Choose the question
A contribution could explain a method, compare two choices, or describe a particular experience. Start with the question your audience would want answered. Then decide whether the material would need a whole conversation or one focused excerpt.
A plan that begins with a predetermined glowing quote would leave little room for the guest’s actual view.
Three starting points
| Contribution | Opening prompt | Follow-up |
|---|---|---|
| A method explanation | What are the steps in one task you know well? | At which step would a beginner need to slow down? |
| A choice with trade-offs | When would you choose one approach over another? | What would make your recommendation change? |
| A specific experience | What happened in one situation that changed how you work? | What did you observe directly? |
Each brief would ask for different evidence.
A contribution about choosing a workspace
A creator could want to explain how someone chooses a place for concentrated work. A useful opening could be: “Think of one workspace you used. Which part helped the task, and which part made it harder?”
If an answer used a general word such as “comfortable,” the follow-up could ask which concrete feature the person meant. A potential text outline would be task → setting → helpful feature → limitation.
Your contribution brief
Audience question: [what the piece would help someone understand].
Contribution needed: [method / trade-off / experience].
Opening prompt: [one specific question].
Context to preserve: [conditions, timeframe, scope].
Claims needing checking: [names, dates, numbers, generalizations].
Possible format: [full conversation / selected answer].
Permission record: [intended use and attribution].
Keep this brief with your editorial notes and check the facts in any selected answer.
An excerpt checklist
- Would the selected answer still make sense without the preceding question?
- Would removing a caveat change the apparent claim?
- Does the title accurately describe what is said?
- Are names, dates, and numbers supported rather than merely plausible?
- Does the intended use match the permission obtained?
Choose excerpts that keep the guest?s meaning intact, then check the details before publishing.
